portion of the Nov. 1 Board of Supervisors meeting, Rose Ann Sharp made a plea that the Supervisors include provisions for water on the site to ensure that grass will grow and that the students will not have to play on a muddy field.
In other construction news, School Superintendent Dr. David Gangel reported to the Board on RCHS addition progress. He said that the project is a few days behind schedule due to an unanticipated need for additional fill and compaction, but that the project should be back on track after the footings are poured. That task will start on Now 2, weather permitting. The target for completion of the addition remains early August of 2000.
In new business before the Board, Commission of Revenue Beverly Atkins requested that the Board consider extending the deadline for submission of forest management plans from Nov. 1, 1999 to Dec. 31, 1999. She said that 10 people have yet to submit their plans as they are required to do in order to continue to receive land use taxation benefits. Jackson District Supervisor Ron Frazier engaged the Commissioner in a debate about the Board’s authority to grant an extension, noting that he thought that any extension could be granted under her authority.
