day and then performed in a Chorus with students from six other schools at night. What a tremendous opportunity for these students! Mrs. Nancy Buckholtz, RCHS parent and Music Booster, video taped the wonderful performance for the students.
• The RCHS Architectural Drawing students are designing an outdoor playhouse that will actually be built by the Building Trades Class. All jobs from architect through contractor will be role-played throughout the project. The completed building!s) will be auctioned to the public.
Profits will help fund TSA conference travel, and a donation will be made to the Habitat for Humanity affiliate serving Rappahannock County. If you have questions or would like to see or bid on the building, please call RCHS teachers, Ron Vickers or Scott Schlosser, at 987-8575.
• The catch phrase for the Math Department at RCHS this year is “Algebra Success for Every Student!”, and the teachers are working hard to achieve this through increased daily instruction, and matching student/teacher/to learning/teaching styles. We applaud the effort by our students and teachers as they strive for excellence in this area.
• The Environmental Science Class at RCHS, under guidance of RCHS teacher, Mrs. Beth Gall, is continuing their Biodiversity project piloted by the Conservation and Research Center in Front Royal. The students work on a one hectare plot of forested land on property owned by School Board Chairman, Dr. John Tole, and his wife Judy, an avid RCHS volunteer. The class will measure, identify and graph the location of every tree on the plot to measure the diversity of tree species in our area. We are very excited to be a part of this worthwhile project.
• The next Early Release Day for the Public Schools will be on Friday, Nov. 5. Schools will dismiss at 1:40 p.m. Please don’t forget to make necessary child care arrangements.
• The School Board’s regular monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Please feel free to attend and voice your opinions on issues.
