TOWN COUNCIL TOWN OF WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA PURSUANT to Section 6-1-1 of the Tpwn of Washington Zoning Ordinance and Section 15.22204 of the 1950 Code of Virginia, as amended, notice is hereby given that the Town Council of Washington, Virginia, will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, December 8, 1999 at 7:30 pm- .in the Town Hall on Gay and Calvert Streets in Washington, Virginia, in order to consider the followinq application: _ Application by the Child Care & Learning Center to amend the Town of Washington Zoninf'Ordinance to allow Adaptive Re-Uses of Existing Structures by Special Use Permit. The proposed Special Use Permits would allow the Child Care 8. learning Center to lease space in the old Washington School to non-Day Care facilities, under certain conditions. The actual text of the amendments are as foljijws: 1) Amend Section 1-4-1 by adding, “i. Adaptive re-use of existing structures" * 2. ) Amend Section 6-1-2 by adding: ’ "v. Adaptive Re-Uses of Existing Structures 1) Adaptive re-uses shall be limited to those uses listed under section 1-4-3, 1-4-4, and 1-4-5 of this Ordinance. 2. ) The continuation of the present.use is impractical due to the structure’s si*. * - construction or location. 3. ) No major addition is required to the struc- •' ture, and the general exterior appearance • of the structure shall be maintained... 4. ) All parking areas shall be effectively screened. ~ 3. ) Amend the Combined Ordinance Definitions to included: -n 1 Adaptive Re-Use of Existing Structures A-use, conducted in accordance with a special use permit issued in compliance with 6-1-2 v., wherein a use other than single-family residential is conducted in a structure built prior to 1950 Amendment request allowed under Section 9-1s et seq. Of the Town of Washington Zonina Ordinance.
