In other new business, Mr. McCarthy1 reviewed the VACo Region 7 Legislative Program for the upcoming year, noting that! nothing had changed from last year’s pro-' gram except for open cable access, an issue( that has no relevance for Rappahannock; County. One new legislative issue raised by* McCarthy was the requirement for ground! water testing that has been expanded to! include areas that have hydrological connec-! tion to wetlands. He said that, if literally; interpreted, this “could mean anywhere on earth, and it would double ground water! testing costs for the county. His suggestion,1 was that Rappahannock work with VACo to lobby to have the enabling legislation amend-1 ed to be more specific. The Supervisors voted to approve a general resolution in support of VACos year 2000 legislative lobbying pro-1 gram. !
The Board is seeking candidates for the Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority to replace Richard Smith, who resigned, and Ellen Manson, whose term expires at the end of the year.
The Board also received a letter of acceptance and thanks from Peter Little, who was appointed to the Library Board of Trustees. Dr. Hallee Morgan was also appointed to the Library Board.
