Bailey
From Page A1
The plaque was presented by the four newly elected officers of the RCDC (Meredith Gorfein, Lillian Aylor, Floyd Stilley and Andy Platt) and by Lee Bird, a former Chair of the Committee.
After the presentation, the group discussed the early days of the RCDC in the 1970’s and 1980’s. During that time, the late Ed Bailey was the Treasurer, and after his death, Ethel was elected to replace him.
There were pot luck fund raisers, parties to which Democratic notables and a group from Page County often came, and special mention was made of the nonesuch deviled eggs that Ethel contributed.
Responsible and concerned citizens, both Ed and Ethel Bailey have made outstanding contributions to our Rappahannock community. The applause of the 40 plus members of the RCDC, when mention of the plaque honoring Ethel was made, was a living witness to the respect and admiration in which she is held by those who know her best.
