Home: Amissville Occupation: Part-time worker at Amissville Nursery Accomplishments: Sandi Carter could win “volunteer'’ of the year, however, in her own quiet and meek way, no one would ever guess who she is or how much she contributes to her home town, Amissville. Mrs. Carter is a member of the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department, where she also serves as its treasurer. She is EMT certified. She serves on the finance, executive and several other committees for the department. For seven years, she has been in Charge of the Amissville carnival queen contestants. Mrs. Carter volunteers one day a week at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. She is also a Brownie Leader for Troop 139. Mrs. Carter has been working part-time for the last three years at Amissville Nursery. “She’s a good worker and a real asset to our nursery business,” said owner Paul Payne. She is married to j.B. Carter Jr. and they have two children, Emily, age nine and Adam, who is five.
