Gardens, Woodville, given by Mrs. W.R. Williamson on herbs and their usage. Present were Mrs. B.G. Titchenell, Mrs. Nelson Burner, Mrs. Howard Holschuh, Mrs. Mary Priest, Mrs. Eileen Manwaring, Mrs. Lewellyn Allison, Home Agent and Miss Ruby Jenkins. Crafts Day was held at Wits End, a gift and antique shop on Route 211 at Ben Venue during the weekend. Among the exhibits and handicrafts demonstrated were quilting, pottery, rock polishing, doll houses and furniture. Baked goods and plants were featured also. Bill Taylor continued his winning ways in track competition when he placed first in the mile and two mile runs at the Regional Meet held Friday at Montevideo.

Big-time bicycle racing made an encore appearance in Sperryville Monday when the Tour de Trump cycled through The Little Apple on its way to Winchester.
It was almost, but not quite, a repeat of last year’s race;, since this time the riders pedaled up the seven mile grade of U.S. 211 from Sperryville to Thornton’s Gap. County residents should get used to the buzz of low-flying aircraft during the next several weeks, as government and private contractors spray parts of the county in an effort to halt the advance of the voracious gypsy moth caterpillars. Government spraying coordinated by the Appalachian Integrated Pest Management Project, began on Monday in designated spray blocks in the Castleton and F.T. Valley area. Only the southern one-third of the county was included in that program this year. Beautifying the courthouse grounds, members of the Rappahannock County Garden Club planted summer annuals during a work detail on Monday.
