The Packing Shed Gallery has annunced the “Laughing at Life Inside and Out” exhibition of the works of Virginia Sculptor Donald F. Liscomb. The show runs until May 27. The gallery is open from 12:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Experimental, Mr. Liscomb’s artistic creations have been in many media, but his primary works have always been sculpture through the years. Presently, he works on objects of wood and steel for both outdoor and indoor installations. Mr. Liscomb believes art should be fun mostly, well executed, cause thought and enjoyment, be balanced, and stir emotions. Born in Chicago and raised on his family’s farm in Dunlap, Iowa, Donald Liscomb came to Virginia .in the mid-fifties. In 1964, he began showing his sculpture in Richmond where he was living and working, directing commercial construction projects. From 1964 through the seventies, Mr. Liscomb particpated in numerous one and two artist shows in the greater Richmond area, including the Winsor Galeries. Mr. Liscomb moved to the Luray area in 1971 where his work has been exhibited at local banks, fairs and in private homes. He has designed and built more than 100 private residences, each artistically individualized and many with logs he has milled hinmself.
