4-H spring pickins
The Rappahannock 4-H Dairy Goat Club is sponsoring a community yard sale and pickin party on Saturday, May 20 at the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department. The yard sale opens at 10 a.m. Call 987-7206 to reserve your table ($10) and sell all those goodies from your attic or basement. The Pickin Party starts at 5p.m. with dinner sold to benefit the Sperryville Fire Department Auxiliary. There will be great bluegrass music to enjoy and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Rappahannock County 4-H General Fund. Please plan to attend!
Benefit bake sale planned
A benefit bake sale will be held at the Faith Mountain Store in Sperryville on Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to raise funds for the Faith Mountaineers Relay for Life team. For more information call 987-8521.
Beauty pageant this Saturday

Benefit sale at Senior Citizen’s site
On May 13 beginning at 10 a.m., the Melvin Crusaders, Spiritual Walkers I, II and III along with the John Marshall and Ora Barbour walker teams will be selling deep fried chicken dinner or sandwiches, bake goods, etc. at the Senior Citizen’s Mother’s Day Extravaganza at the Old School House site on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
The Global Cafe at Ki Theater
The Art Club of RCHS is inviting the public to participate in an evening of potluck international cuisine, conversation about global issues, live performance and art on May 20 at 6 p.m. in the Ki Theater.
The Global Cafe will feature questions at each table created by Art Club students and young people from Hearthstone. The thought-provoking questions will be conversation starters. Those who attend are requested to sit with people they don’t normally interact with.
There will be original poetry and song and music by students. Any young person in the county is invited to share their view of the world in a creative way. Hearthstone students will be displaying their mural entitled “We’ve Got the Whole World”.
If you would like to donate a dish for six from a country other than the United States or if you would like to perform, please leave a message for Laurie Marshall at 9878575. Admission is $5. Proceeds will go to benefit the Art Department.
