• Can you see where this is heading? It’s not too late to say thank you to a teacher who has been special to you or your child in some , way! Teacher Appreciation Week continues through Friday, but teachers are always happy to receive notes of appreciation at any time throughout the year. All of our teachers are special in some way. Classroom teachers, Art, Music, P.E. teachers, Guidance Counselors, Speech teachers, Librarians, and more, all deserve our gratitude for the tremendous, and often frustrating though rewarding work they do for our children.
• Mr. Ben “Cooter” Jones was observed visiting Mrs. Karen Alexander’s Special Education classroom at RCES last Thursday, May 4. Having this former congressman and television personality visit our school was a treat foi; teachers and students alike. Many thanks!
• The fifth grade DARE Graduation was held last Thursday evening at RCES. Each fifth and sixth grade student received a DARE tee shirt, and students who had written winning essays about the DARE program were invited to read them on stage. Those talented students were: Fifth Graders Katherine Crawford, Benjamin Hackney, Anna Owens, Jesse Palmer and Sixth Graders Justin Gheen, Courtney Hutcheson, Larry Oliver and Patrick Treanor.
