In case you’re not aware of it, or maybe haven’t
glanced at a calendar lately, this Sunday is
Mother’s Day.
It has been said, “Don’t ever underestimate the importance of being a mother. That will be the most important job you will ever have in your life.”
In a press release this week from First Lady Susan Allen, she wrote of this tremendous responsibility and in our busy and hectic lifestyles we are reminded daily that being a mother is indeed the most important job we will ever have.
Many mothers spend countless hours as chauffeurs, coaches, leaders, chaperones and the list goes on to supply our children with the ability to participate in extra activities.
This Sunday as we celebrate the first Mother’s Day of the new century, we salute every woman who holds down dozens of jobs on a daily or weekly basis to ensure our children the sort of lifestyle we want them to have. As the First Lady stated, “we are friends to our children as well as chauffeurs, coaches and confidants.” There’s not a greater responsibility than to laugh with them when they are happy and cry with them when they are sad. We are the ones they will learn to trust and love and what we do will make them responsible adults.
Flowers, cards and gifts are all wonderful tokens of appreciation on this day, however, most moms would be just as happy with three simple words, I love you.
So to mothers everywhere, we salute you and firmly believe it is the most important job any of us will ever hold. Happy Mother’s Day!
