Program and the DARE Graduation which recognizes all participating students, so it was unfortunate that he was unable to attend the ceremony. He took ill on the evening of the graduation and was taken to the hospital. We are extremely happy to report that he is being treated successfully for a severe inner ear infection and should be back at school soon.
• In his absence, Sheriff Larry Sherertz, Principal Raye Tupper and Middle School Co-Principal Richard Smith did a stellar job of “winging” the program. We were very pleased to have several members of the Lions Club in attendance, as well as School Board Member, Ms. Rosa Crocker, and Board of Supervisors members, Mr. Bob Anderson and Mr. Bryant Lee.
• RCPS Gifted and Talented teacher Mrs. Amy Gubler and RCES second grade teacher Mrs. Geraldine Payne traveled to Harrisonburg last Thursday with the five RCES winners of the WVPT Rainbow Contest and their parents. WVPT-TV presented each winner with a special award. We are very proud of these talented students: Emily Carter, Taylor Light, Caroline Massie, Joseph Switzer and Rachel Switzer.
• The After Prom Party on Saturday night was an overwhelming success thanks to the hard work of our phenomenal Parent Committee and others. Members of the committee were Mrs. Lorinda Bosch, Mrs. Cecilia Dennis, Mrs. Wanda Early, Mrs. Debbie Fantaci, Mrs. Kim Goodwin and Mrs. Nina Shepardson. Professional dance instructor and volunteer, Mr. George Colvin, offered dance lessons at RCHS on three afternoons prior to the prom for any interested students.
