Garden Club to
offer scholarship
The Rappahannock County Garden club will once again offer the Francis J. Leonard Memorial Scholarship to a senior in Rappahannock County for the purpose of continuing his or her education. A grant of $1,500 will be awarded to a student enrolling in a four year college or university, $1,000 will be given the first year and $500 in the second year.
Applications for the grant are available at the guidance department of the Rappahannock County High School or from Mrs. Irvin R. Kilby at 987-8741. The deadline for returning the applications is May 22.
Spring athletic
awards banquet
set for May 30
The Athletic Department will be hosting the spring awards banquet for high school athletes on Wednesday, May 30 at 6 p.m. in the Rappahannock County Elementary School cafeteria. There will be a barbecue dinner, dessert, and drinks from 6 to 7 p.m. for all athletes and their families.
A nominal charge of $6 per person for a ticket is being requested to cover the costs. Advance tickets are necessary and will be on sale only until May ! 28. See Kelly Settle for a ticket reservation or call her at 9878575. The awards ceremony will be held immediately following dinner.
