Congratulations to the Salem Fire and Rescue Department upon participating in the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival parade in Winchester.
The department was awarded first place for Basic Life Support and also first place overall in rescue equipment. We say thanks to all the volunteers to this great department and it is so important for you to be recognized for the great work you do. We greatly encourage you to keep up the good work.
Condolences are extended to the family and friends of Mrs. Mary Jane Deal, who passed away at Culpeper Health Care Center on Thursday. She was a hair dresser in Culpeper for many years. ] Mrs. Michele R. Swindler of Culpeper was a Friday evening caller of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frazier and Christopher on Turkey Ridge Road. 4 The Butlers’ and Shaws, our own residents, owners of “Burgers and Things” in Sperryville will be kept quite busy now that they’ve opened a second location at Cooter’s Place, two miles west of Sperryville on US 211. They plan to be open every weekend throughout the summer serving their famous burgers, hot dogs, fries, Cajun catfish and barbecue ribs. So come on out «nd enjoy the music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and have yourself a ’great picnic on the river banks.
