She walked down the back yard to the creek and shared stories of the creative genius of childhood playmates long since gone. You could see her face shine with pride as she spoke of her father and the many beautiful homes he had built, in Flint Hill as well as in Washington, Va.
She made an impression on me that day as she clearly had so long before to her grandson, my husband. The impression was about Flint Hill, the Blue .Ridge Mountains, the Rappahannock River and the Shenandoah Valley. It was her love of her homeland that was draped over each word and expression.
