Senior Gwen Johnson was 2 for 3 on the night with a triple and an in-the-park home run for the second Panther run. Sophomore Brittany Thornhill singled in another insurance run in the 7th inning, with one of the four hits given up by the Madison hurler. The Lady Panther defense was flawless again in their error-free support of their pitcher.
While the “Big Girls” were bringing home the bacon from Madison, the “Little Girls” on the JV team had some home cookin’ going on of their own as they played host to the JV girls from Madison. When that contest ended, the JV Lady Panthers had scored a decisive victory of their own with a 12 to 4 win over the visiting JV Mountaineers.
Sophomore Lara Kreyling went the distance on the mound for the home team recording 12 strikeouts and helping her cause with three hits, including two triples while scoring four runs herself. Freshman Rachel Gall also had three hits on the night. This win followed an 18 to 0 thrashing of the Page County JV softball team on Monday, March 25th, when the varsity was idle.
Brittany Thornhill threw a one-hitter for the JV Panthers in that game and fellow sophomore, Jennifer Foreback, was a “one-woman wrecking crew” as she collected four hits and drove in eight runs. Gall also had four hits in that contest.
