Reporting from the Extension Office, Kenner Love received a directive on Aug. 26 from the Director of Virginia Cooperative Extension.

As they were preparing their seven, 11, and 15 percent reduction plans, they were focussing on avoiding layoffs and office closings, but said that at the 15 percent level, layoffs and office closings would be unavoidable.

Many in Rappahannock benefit from the work and services of our Extension office.

The picture will be clearer by Sept. 20 when the state agencies and departments submit their plans for reducing their budgets, but certainly not rosier.
