The Middle Street Gallery in Little Washington announces the opening of an exhibition of oil paintings by area artist Steven Kenny. The show runs from Sept. 6 through Sept. 29. A reception for the artist will occur on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 2 to 6 p.m.

A recent recipient of both an artist’s fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the top 2002 visual arts prize fropi the Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation, Mr. Kenny’s paintings have been exhibited in states from New York to San Francisco and internationally. Locally he has had solo exhibitions at both Gallery K and the Fraser Gallery in Washington, DC.

Anyone familiar with Mr. Kenny’s previous work knows of his use of rich color and intricate detail in rendering highly imaginative, representational compositions. His paintings most often include the
