Choral Society
to begin season
Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society will begin rehearsals for its Christmas concerts on Monday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m., in the Parish Hall of Precious Blood Catholic Church. The concert will feature selections from “The Messiah” by Handel.
There are openings in all four voice parts for those with a love for and some experience in reading choral music. Music director Art Palmer does not hold formal auditions, however, newcomers are asked to arrive early to meet with him. Former members are warmly encouraged to rejoin the group. Members will be accepted through Sept. 23.
Concerts for this season are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 at The Lake of the Woods Church and for Monday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. at Precious Blood Church.

A benefit dinner, dance and silent auction for the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Windrush Farm, Flint Hill.

County farmers
invited to tour
On Saturday, Sept. 7 the Culpeper Soil & Water Conservation District is conducting a conservation tour highlighting conservation projects on local farms, both completed and in-progress and Rappahannock farmers are invited.
Participants will visit farms in Greene, Madison and Orange Counties, traveling by airconditioned bus. Join the free tour and learn about opportunities and advantages of cost share programs, waste management systems, water development, forested stream buffers, and rotational grazing.
The tour leaves at 8:30 a.m. from the south parking lot of the Madison War Memorial Building. A free lunch at Sal’s is included. Call the Culpeper Soil & Water Conservation District at 825-8591 for details.
