“Monsoon Wedding” is an ensemble family comedy about the notentirely-happy chaos in the days leading up to the wedding of the only daughter of an upper-middleclass Delhi family. Filmed in New Delhi, India, on a tight 30-day schedule and directed by Mira Nair, the movie shows at the Theatre on Gay Street in Washington on Friday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.
Set in Punjabi culture, ancient tradition and dot-com modernity combine in unique and perfect harmony. As the romantic monsoon rains loom, the extended Verma family reunites from around the globe for a last minute arranged marriage in New Delhi.
