Keating to perform at Blue Moon

Singer songwriter Vyktoria Keating will perform at the Blue Moon Cafe on Friday. Sept. 6 at 9 p.m. Ms. Keating lived in Sperryville for eight years writing songs and perfecting her art and recently returned from Arizona. She is an award winning guitarist and vocalist and is currently working on the upcoming release of her fourth CD.

Ms. Keating is the recipient of three Washington area music awards, has sold 10,000 CDs of her music and has played in 46 states. Mark your calendar for Friday, Sept. 6 to see Ms. Keating in person and hear her perform at Blue Moon.

Travel team accepting applications

Apple Butter Festival set

The third annual Apple Butter Festival has been scheduled for Sept. 11-14 at Skyland's Conference Hall in the Shenandoah National Park. Clyde Gray sets up his copper kettle and stokes up the fire for demonstrations in the age-old tradition of apple butter boiling and all are invited.

At the festival guests can purchase apple related gifts, crafts and food at the special Country Store. Food items include apple cobbler, apple turnovers, apple cinnamon bars, country ham sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers and more. Scouting to begin new year

Cub Scout Pack 123 will be registering boys interested in the 2002-03 scouting season on Thursday, Sept. 5 starting at 7 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. Jenkins' plan reunion

The family of the late Aubrey R. and Ellen Baker Jenkins will hold their reunion on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock Park on US 211 near Washington. All family members and friends are invited and reminded to wear something patriotic. “Please bring a covered dish and come out for a day of good food, fun, games and prizes," said an organizer. Senior fund raiser set

Jean Lillard will be participating in the annual Rappahannock RoughRide on Saturday, Sept. 21 and area residents are encouraged to support Ms. Lillard with a donation or a pledge as she rides the 12-mile course. Karate classes to begin

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month. Civil War walking tour set

The Civil War walking tour, sponsored by the Museum of Culpeper History, will begin at the Culpeper Visitors Center. 109 South Commerce Street on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10:30 a m. Food sanitation course planned

The 2002 Fall Food Sanitation Certification course has been scheduled. The course and ServSafe Essentials textbook utilize the new 2001 Model Food Code from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The course will be offered in Warrenton at the Fauquier Extension office, 24 Pelham Street, Sept. 9 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pre-registered cost is $104 per person.
