Boxwoods from Washington, Va., “the first Washington of all,” are being taken up and transported to Washington, D.C. to be planted around the new State Department Annex.
Tb meet the requirements of the landscaper, tree boxwoods were sought for the court of the building and after scouring the countryside, they were found in Rappahannock. The evergreens had to be at least 20 feet tall.
Some of the trees were taken from the home of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis Jr., who had just recently almost cut them down. Others were gotten from the Bowen property and from Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Jenkins.
A large ad appeared for the new 1961 Ford Galaxie Club Victoria available at Merrill Motor Company in Washington. It was advertised as “beautifully built to take care of itself.”
John Eubank Jr., Ranny Aylor, Randolph Clater, Buddy Devers and Sonny Brown attended the New York Yankees—Washington Senators baseball game Monday evening at Griffith Stadium.
Mrs. Carson Anderson, “the Watkins Lady” brought lima beans by the office that measured eight and one-half inches long that were raised by Miss Janie Hawkins.

James Swindler, a student at Rappahannock County High School, has achieved the status of Commended Student in the 1978 Merit Scholarship Program. This honor was acquired as the result of outstanding performance on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which was administered in October 1976. Swindler received a letter of commendation.
