all festival at Forest Grove
A fall festival will be held at Forest Grove Baptist Schoolhouse on Saturday, Oct. 5. Currently vendors and crafters are being sought and both inside and outside spaces are available. All proceeds will benefit the Forest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. For additional information call 937-4221 or 825-7799.
Hunting licenses available
Hunting licenses will be available on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Flint Hill Store building. For other times or additional information call Jean Lillard at 675-7171.
Shooting match scheduled
Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company will sponsor a shooting match the first Friday night of each month beginning at 7 p.m. starting Oct. 4.
There will be a $50 fee for five rounds and there are two shots in each round. Cash jackpots include 10-14 people, $50; 15 to 19 people, $75; 20 to 24 people, $100 and 25-29 people, $125. Rules are: 12 gauge shotguns; no scopes, no sleeves, 36 inch barrels maximum length.
Playgroup to meet
Country Kids Playgroup will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Amissville Baptist Church. New families are welcome to join. The playgroup is a non-profit group for parents/caregivers and children ages infant to five.
It meets every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon from October through June. Toys are provided. Crafts and activities are planned. Optional field trips are also planned. There is no fee. Call Kim Whitham at 341-7488 for more information or directions.
Family reunion planned
The Coppage and Woodard family reunion will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Washington fire hall. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish and a beverage to share. For more information call Louise Woodard at 675-2041.
Conservation festival set
The Smithsonian National Zoo Conservation and Research Center's sixth annual Autumn Conservation Festival will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The center is located on Route 522, two miles south of Front Royal.
