The public is cordially invited on Friday, Sept. 27, from 4-7 p.m., to the newly expanded and re-designed R. H. Ballard Art, Rug & Home’s fifth year grand re-opening.
This celebration’s focal point is an exhibition of stunning new art works by five regional and award-winning artists: Kiki Felix, Thomas Mullany, Tanya M. Richey, Barbara Sherwood and Chris Stephens.
This highly-anticipated show brings together the region’s finest artists who are as diverse in their techniques as they are in their approach to subject matter. The exhibition will continue through Oct. 14, but all of the artist’s will be represented by new work on display throughout the year in an exciting and ever-changing format.
The show includes Kiki Felix, a well-known regional artist who was bom in the U.K. and now resides in Washington D.C. The artist creates atmospheric landscapes and still-lifes of oil and watercolor, using a contemporary eye with classical methods. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Grant, in addition to numerous other awards, and has shown internationally.
Washington artist, Thomas Mullany, is familiar to the area as having received critical acclaim through his exhibitions in both Washington D. C. and New York City. He is currently concentrating on pubic sculpture, murals, and landscapes with ironic, romantic and sometimes humorous subject matter with a classical touch,
