and life forms. The painting process and the composition combine with these elements to bring to light an idea of layered responses in our own minds. We may be able to follow his train of thought or not, depending upon our own experience.
Perhaps they are more like dream images, where, upon awakening we only have pieces which seem to fit oddly together but retain a feeling we cannot deny. A stillness is created in this show of paintings which is akin to that first moment of conscious awareness, awakening from the dream state. The fulfillment of this experience of communicating an idea, is more complete in some of the paintings and it is interesting to ponder why; as this is what makes painting of this kind truly magical, as well as powerful.
"The Crane" is such a painting. Set in a dramatically lit landscape of devastation, a young woman is carrying a dying crane which lies limp in an imaginatively constructed support upon her back.
