The celebrated jazz pianist, raconteur, and humorist John Eaton returns to the Theatre at Washington for a concert on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. He studied English literature at Yale but then, as he says, “succumbed to my first love, jazz, and became a professional musician.”
Eaton plays swing, ragtime, and more. He has given at least 200 sold-out lecture/concerts focusing on the American popular song in a series which he developed for the Smithsonian Institution. The series has also been broadcast on National Public Radio. Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter, Gershwin, and Ellington are among the composers whose music Eaton brings to the concert platform with the ease and elegance of a master.
Over the years Eaton’s extraordinary pianistic talent has earned him the highest accolades — from music critics, listeners and fellow musicians.
