Farfelu Vineyards in Flint Hill, Virginia’s first winery, announces an award-winning summer, taking 12 awards in five wine competitions this summer.
“We are very excited about the progress we are making,” said Farfelu’s new owner Caroline Osborne. Honors this summer include:
• 2001 Chardonnay: Silver medals from the Virginia Governor’s Cup, the Virginia Wine Growers Association and the Indy International Wine Competition in Indianapolis, as well as a Bronze medal at the Virginia State Fair Wine Competition.
• 2001 Folly, Farfelu’s dessert style blend of Muscat and Cayuga: a Gold medal from the Tasters Guild Consumer Wine Judging and Bronze medals from the Virginia Governor’s Cup and the Indy International Wine Competition in Indianapolis.
• 2001 Vidal Blanc: A Silver medal from the Tasters Guild Consumers Wine Judging and Bronze medals from the Indy International Wine Competition in Indianapolis and the Virginia Wine Growers Association.
• Fou de Rouge, Farfelu’s red blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet France and Chardonnay: a Bronze medal at the Virginia Wine Growers Association.
• Fou de Blanc, Farfelu’s crisp, fruit forward Cayuga: a Bronze award from the Tasters Guild Consumer Wine Judging.
