Joseph Starry
Slate Mills resident
Joseph Earnest Starry, 85, of Slate Mills died Friday, Sept. 20 at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem.
He was bom Oct. 17,1916 in Front Royal, to the late Joseph and Mary Ramey Starry.
Mr. Starry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Culpeper VFW and a founding member of the D.C. Ramblers Motorcycle Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrtle L. Whiting and her husband, David of Newport News and Jean Marie Porter and her husband, Edward of Chantilly; four grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Audrey Wells Starry and a brother, Roy “Jack” Starry.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Sept. 23 at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating. Burial followed at Culpeper National Cemetery.
