Richard Smith, the county public schools' curriculum director announced at the School Board meeting Tuesday night that a "Scheduling Night" for students in eighth through eleventh grades and their parents, would be held in the Rappahannock County High School auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 21.
The purpose of the program, Smith said, was to inform students about graduation requirements and postgraduation options, to provide information on the opportunities available next year that will assist students in achieving their objectives, and to enable students to make their course selection requests for the 2003-2004 school year.
The program will include discussion of graduation requirements, diploma options, advanced placement and honors courses, career and technical education, dual enrollment, and the work internship program, said Smith. ,
Tentative new course offerings for next year include Advanced Placement (AP) English 11, an SAT preparation course, World History H Honors, Fundamentals of Mathematics, Biology Honors, AP Chemistry, Chemistry in the Community, Horticulture, AP Calculus, Applied Mathematics, AP Art, Chorus, and EMTI & II.
Final new course offerings are dependent upon student selections and teacher availability.
A letter and the list of course offerings will be mailed this week to parents.
