In the early days, winners received flowers. Tbday they receive a trophy, flowers and a dinner out, donated by a local restaurant.
“Miss Rappahannock” receives a trophy, a dozen roses, $100 cash and traditionally, a dinner for two at the Inn at Little Washington. All winners are invited to represent the county in the annual fireman’s parades of Sperryville, Amissville and Flint Hill, Fantaci said.
The winners of this year’s Rappahannock County Beauty Pageant will be announced in several weeks, and published along with photographs from the March 29 event, Fantaci said.
Jammie is sentimental about leaving the pageants behind her, but excited about her future. “I’ll open my salons, have my own business and be very successful,” she smiled. “And maybe one day 111 get married, if I ever find someone good enough!”
One thing is for sure, said Mrs. Magee. “She’ll always be our beauty queen. This was a lot of fun through the years. I’m very proud of Jammie.”
