ner from the Warrenton races three weeks ago.

In the day’s other races, owner-rider Jim Whitner confirmed his partnership with his newest timber horse Patrician Power to win the Seven Comers series race.

By far the most competitive of the Virginia series races this season, at the last fence it was anybody’s race as the field was tightly bunched. Patrician Power, Lone Mountain and Sunny Boca dueled to the wire, with Patrician Power winning by a head in a three-way photo finish.

Upperville investor Whitner purchased Patrician Power from Clorevia Farm just last fall. Though he hunted him regularly through the winter — including with the hosting Old Dominion Hounds — WKpner had never ridden Patrician Power in a race until Saturday.
