“Usually my heart’s just pounding and I wish they’d just hurry up and get it over with,” she laughed, recalling when she and her sisters would watch the “Miss America,” “Miss Universe” and “Miss U.S.A.” pageants as young girls.
“We’d always disagree about who would win and why,” said Jammie, who used to dream of being crowned “Miss America” one day.
As in those famous pageants, a lot has changed in Rappahannock’s event.
The Rappahannock County Beauty Pageant began as a fundraiser for the Rappahannock Jaycees, according to Fantaci, over 30 years ago.
