The ambulatory surgery center is progressing well with a scheduled completion in June of 2003. The intensive care unit was opened in 2002 and the renovations to the patient rooms continue. Our goal is to break ground on the Powell Wellness Center by the end of 2003. This will be followed by the cancer and cardiovascular center. These projects have been made possible by the enormously successful capital campaign, and i wish to thank everyone involved for their wonderful effort The incredible generosity shown by the people in our service area reaffirms that we have an outstanding hospital that serves the region wed.
One of my goals for 2002 was to redefine the strategic vision and plan for our hospital. We have completed this task with the help of a dedicated group of individuals who were involved with the Strategic Planning Group. This plan is critical if we are to continue to improve our hospital in the future. The new strategic focus will be on patient centered care, which is the reason that we exist and we must not lose sight of that
I have enjoyed serving as chairman of the hospital board for the past two years and I especially enjoyed working with our management team led by Lee Kirk. I also appreciate the outstanding efforts of our employees, board members, volunteers, and physicians. It is the efforts of these outstanding people that will ensure the success of our hospital in the yean to come.
