cider. Gid put the cider into gallon jugs and put the labels on the containers. It was then that Gid learned that it takes 16 or 17 bushels of apples to make 50 gallons of cider.
Leaning back in his chair on the front porch of his home on Main Street, Gid recalled another piece from the past.
“Back in the forties, I remember people in the hollers coming down with big old bags of apples to sell or trade at the grocery store for coffee and other things they needed. There used to be a country store where the bakery building is now.”
