“I checked it out, went to the Web site, and I thought it was a good fit, too — and I’m working outside. It sure beats construction, where everybody’s always yelling at you. Here, everybody’s happy to see you.”
Galliher said the company can pick up everything from a single piece to multiple truckloads of junk. He said the market in the area is strong.
“We go into a house and do all the work, and here in the D.C. area, there’s an awful lot of junk,” he said.
It costs $100 for the company to pick up and remove the first piece — say, an old couch. Everything after that is priced by volume, ranging from an eighth of a truckload all the way up to a truckload. A halftruckload is $299 and a full truckload is $498.
“The more that you throw out, the more you save,” Galliher said with a laugh.
‘We try to donate the good stuff,” he continued. “I will get one or two good items in a truckload, and I don’t have to pay a dump fee on anything I donate, so there is a financial incentive for me to donate something valuable.”
