Bravo, Mr.
Frazier
The Rappahannock News and citizens across the
county would like to stand up and, at least in
spirit, offer Jackson District supervisor Ron Frazier a standing ovation.
Not only for the courage to stand up and admit that his decision to vote for the paving of a section of Grimsley Road should be reconsidered, but for doing something that far too many people don’t seem to have the time for anymore: listening.
He listened to the many voices of the people directly affected by his decision. He also looked at things firsthand and we’d like to think that he considered the precedent it would set for the county if unnecessary projects could be forced on residents who didn’t want them.
Our collective hat is also off to Piedmont District representative and Board of Supervisors’ chairman Charles K. “Pete” Estes. He listened, too, and acted in a manner appropriate for a leader and a representative of all the people of this county.
So now the matter of paving Grimsley Road’s wellpublicized three-tenths of a mile will come up before the supervisors again at their Nov. 1 meeting. We encourage everyone in the community who has an interest in what happens around them to attend, whether to speak or just observe.
County and town governments work best and satisfy their communities much better when the people who live in them are informed and involved.
On the flip side, it also helps to have supervisors who are involved and responsive to the needs of their constituents.
Rappahannock County is fortunate to have such a Board of Supervisors.
