The bread was baking, members of the staff were making sandwiches, the soup was bubbling ... and it still was almost a week before Panera Bread opened for business in Warrenton.
“Man, it’s exciting, exciting,” said Peter Davis, Panera Bread district manager for the western part of the state of Virginia. “I can’t wait until we open.”
(The store was scheduled to open Oct. 19.)
Fresh stuff
“We make all our bread here fresh every day,” Davis said. “We produce all the bread, all the sweets, and all the bagels fresh on-site every day, 363 days a year. We’re closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
Panera Bread features soups, salads, sandwiches, pastries and beverages. The cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
“We have a team of bakers who work all night, and everything is made from scratch,” Davis explained. “It’s a 10-hour process.”
