In a small county like Rappahannock, the Registrar must be trained in all aspects and phases of voter registration. Larger counties, like Fauquier, have more staff and the ability to specialize. For Newlin, it’s just she and one part-time assistant.
“It certainly keeps us very busy that way,” laughed Newlin.
Newlin said her office will be open Saturday, Oct. 23 and 30 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. to assist with absentee voting.
