Frazier also said he saw that the majority of residents don't want the paving done and that with budget cuts to \T>OT, the money could be better spent elsewhere.
“Like projects for the schools, we ought to repair what we have before we launch new ones," Frazier said. "Before we start working on a flat, straight section of road we ought to fix the roads that really need work.”
Chairman Estes said that the area affected was in the districts of Frazier and Welch.
"If it's in their district and they want it that way, then so be it,” Estes said. "I decided to let it go. There'll have to be a vote at the November meeting."
By II o'clock the crew was off the road, taking the tar to another site to be used. Moore said.
“Even if they'd shot a 100 feet already, we still could have called it off.” Moore said.
Caulfield said it was a real silver lining that the VDOT crew had another place they could use the tar before it hardened.
"Part of our whole issue with this paving is that it's a w aste of tax dollars." Caulfield said “I would have hated to have a couple thousand dollars’ worth of tar w asted over this.”
