Nieters said the team went to the state finals two years ago before losing its first game, and lost its first match of the 2003 season, but then didn’t lose again until the regionals.

“We’re hoping we got it out of our system early,” Nieters said. “It’s better to lose now, if we have to, than to end the season on a loss.”

Seniors Anna Kreyling and Sherri North led the Panthers in kills, with six and five, respectively. Kreyling also added two blocks.

Senior Mattie Nawrocki and sophomore Rebecca Tupper each had four service aces in the match. Nawrocki also added a kill.

“It was probably good to lose now, instead of later” Gall said.
