that the county would need to improve its communication system prior to that time, and would need to purchase a transmitter site and the necessary equipment for a 150MHz system
Once the county is able to link to STARS, the 150-MHz frequencies would be handed over to STARS and the county would lose whatever costs have been incurred on the transmitters, leases and equipment that cannot be upgraded to the STARS standard.
At this time, the cost per vehicle, including police cruisers and fire and rescue vehicles, would be $17,000, exclusive of a base station.
To equip all emergency responders to the STARS standard, the cost would be approximately $350,000 with an additional $850,000 upgrade in 2008-09.

RappFLOW, or “Rappahannock Friends and Lovers of Our Watershed,” began its work in 2002 to help preserve and protect Rappahannock County’s watershed.
