Smith had entered a guilty plea Sept. 2,2004, to six charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The incidents occurred while a 10-year-old girl was visiting her grandmother in Castleton. Smith admitted exposing himself to the minor and asking her to touch him at different times between Aug. 1, 2003 and Jan. 12, 2004.

Within 10 days of Smith’s release from prison, he must register as a sex offender wit|i the Virginia State Police as required by the Sex Offender and Crime Against Minors Registry and complete a counseling program for sex offenders.

Smith will be on three years supervised probation and is prohibited from coming into Rappahannock County except under the following circumstances: to visit his real property, to visit his three sisters, to see his attorney and his probation officer and to attend his church.
