There is a new face on the sidelines at Wakefield Country Day School girls’ basketball, but hardly a new face in the local world of basketball.
Earlier this year, Waymon Edwards joined head girls’ basketball coach Jim Dale, coaching the Wakefield team to a 9-5 record so far this season.
Edwards began the varsity basketball program at Highland School in Warrenton three years ago struggling the first year with a 3-12 record.
Under his leadership, Highland boasted a 17-5 r'ecord its second season, taking the Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) championship in 2004. The team went on to take second to Seton School of Manassas, Virginia Independent Schools 2004 state champions.
Edwards has brought expertise in coaching the game to WCDS. His girls’ team is currently ranked 7th of 12 in the DAC.
