Within days prior to Buffalo Hill farm in Madison County being sold, the vacant slaughterhouse, meat-processing facility and retail store was totally destroyed by fire last Thursday.
The 13,114-square-foot property located off Route 230, owned by Edgar Bronfman Sr, was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters responded to the 2 a.m. call.
“The fire just had too much of a head start on us,” said Robert Finks, assistant chief of the Madison County Volunteer Fire Department.
