neighborhood. They sang some beautiful Christmas carols in front of a lady’s home near Laurel Mills. The singers did not expect this lady to come out. She was very eccentric and did not like to be around people. Little did they know, that she was in the house dead and her body was not discovered for some time afterwards!
• Over 30 years ago some people witnessed an intoxicated individual trying to walk the steel rails on the old bridge at Laurel Mills. He lost his balance and fell an estimated 50 feet into the Thornton River! He was not seriously injured, probably because of the water and sand bar below.
Speaking of the Thornton, the river is near its January 5th level.
