some in-house tours of downstairs with fireman explaining the trucks and their uses. Special guest Captain Jeff Brown of the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office was very popular with the DARE Program. Captain Brown was also hugely popular because he took control of the cotton candy machine and began to produce the stuff by the bag full! Needless to say he was everyone’s favorite from that point on. Also it needs to be said that Captain Brown was there for more much longer than asked and helped out in a variety of ways (he even manned the grill at one point) and on top of all that he was “off the clock” and volunteering his own time to help us out. So, on behalf of the Chester Gap Vol. Fire Department I’d like to personally thank Captain Brown for the time he spent with us and the many ways he helped to make the day just that much more enjoyable.
A special fellow
Also there’s another fellow who needs to be recognized for all of the hard work and effort he put into getting the fire station ready for the open house. Mr. Sam Tinsman has been very busy working to clean, straighten, rearrange, and paint the downstairs day room and office. Sam has turned out to be a painter of considerable skill and did a fantastic job which everyone appreciates. Sam has been a huge help all the way around at the fire station and will be greatly missed when he relocates at the end of the month. Sam, we all appreciate the hard work you’ve put in and you’ve been a huge asset to the department and you’ll be greatly missed!
There are many other members who worked very hard to get the station ready for the open house and who work hard every other day as well. Stephanie, Brandon, Maybelle, Adam, Ibdd, Ricky, Jeff, and the list goes on.
