Very Special Arts Specialist

Performing & Visual Arts Center is currently seeking applicants for a Very Special Arts Specialist. This position will develop and coordinate programs and organizational needs in the theatrical arts, which includes programming for the Very Special Arts (VSA) and offering opportunities in the arts for special needs individuals with disabilities. Assess needs/interests of consumers, plan, develop, market and implement programs. Includes transportation as appropriate, integration opportunities and specialized activities for special needs participants. Provides assistance creating and maintaining databases, filing systems and warehouse organization for theater programs. Assists Manager in the creation and implementation of a marketing plan for VSA. Works with the VSA board and participates in approved committees or special events to erlhance VSA program and department growth. Any combination of education/experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in performing arts management or other related field. A valid CDL with Passenger endorsement is required. Prefer current CDL at time of hire, however will provide assistance to successful candidate to obtain appropriate CDL license within 4 months of hire. A minimum of 2 years experience working in the performing arts field is preferred. Also, prefer experience working with special needs population. Proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel highly desired. Valid appropriate driver's license and DMV record check are required. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening required. CPR and First Aid Certification must be completed within 90 days of hire. The incumbent of this position must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
