Which leads us to a second September 28 topic: the differences of opinion expressed by the three supervisor-candidates for the Piedmont District about the once-proposed Conservation Easement District, and its related twocent addition to the tax rate. This proposal drew vehement opposition from voters who felt it taxed the less-well-off to purchase easements from the more-well-off, and that — as in the case of my hypothetical couple above — it favored owners of larger parcels over owners of smaller parcels.
