Medical Records Technician

Mental Health

Two Medical Records Technician positions with the Department of Mental Health Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Service. One position is located in Leesburg and the other position is assigned to the Sterling office. The positions will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of client medical records, ensuring compliance with State, Federal, Medicaid/Medicare and HIPAA regulations; processing requests for the release of information according to Department policy and procedures. Other duties include responding to inquiries both in person and by telephone, receipting payment for services, coordinating the client intake process and creating service tickets. Positions require a working knowledge of computerized data management systems, a proficiency in data entry, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Additionally, the ability to multitask in a busy medical office environment and a strong desire to provide outstanding customer service to clients seeking mental health and substance abuse services is required. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma and four years of job related experience. Some evening coverage may be required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal background check and TB test.
