A controversial proposal to use a historic mansion in the F.T. Valley as a conference center has been put on the back burner.
Bill Fletcher withdrew his application for a special-exception permit for the Miller Farm on Wednesday
Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy said Fletcher’s application had identified the 800-acre property as being in the Stonewall-Hawthome District, but it is actually located in the Piedmont District.
The mix-up does not change anything about Fletcher's desire to use the 8,000-square-foot Miller House as a bed and breakfast and events venue. But the mistake mafa his application, an be wffl have to reapply with a corrected proposal.
McCarthy said Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke noticed the error Wednesday morning while the two of them were reviewing Fletcher’s application. The county administrator took the Maine for the mistake
The district lines change every 10 yebrs to keep each of the county’s five districts with roughly equal populations. The Miller Farm was historically in the Stonewall-Hawthome District, but the Piedmont District’s borders were changed in 2000 to indude everything west of F.X Valley Road (Route 231).
